President Museveni has today taken a tour around the capital city, Kampala, in an effort to find out about the state of the small business owners and the respective labor organizations.
“Workers in the informal sector should organize themselves into groups to access government support,” he noted and this was his message to Nsambya Carpenters & Crafts Training SACCO and Mulago Washing Bay SACCO when he visited them today.
To each of these SACCOs the president donated Sh100 million as start-up capital, while the Mulago group also received eight spray jets to help them in their work.
According to him, the NRM government is committed to getting people out of poverty. “In Kampala, however, part of the problem has been electing leaders who don’t work with the NRM. I am here though and we can work together,” he underscored.
He was to Katwe, Nsambya, Kawempe and other places – all these groups were asking for land to set up their bases. Government promises to help with this as the important thing is to work together, save together and kill the serpent of poverty.
