I am running for president of the United States this year – Kanye WestTweet
American rap star, Kanye West posted a message to his over 29million Twitter followers in which he stated that he was entering the 2020 Presidential race.
“We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future,” he wrote, on Saturday, July 4, 2020.
“I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION.”
Tesla chief executive Elon Musk responded to West’s tweet, saying: “You have my full support!”
West’s wife, reality TV star Kim Kardashian West, also responded to her husband’s message by retweeting it with an emoji depicting the American flag.
According to Sky News, however, it is not very clear if West is serious about vying for the presidency four months before the vote takes place on November 3, or if he has filed any official paperwork to appear on state election ballots.
What is very clear though is the fact that the rapper would be running against the incumbent, Donald Trump, who he has been a vocal supporter of in the past. This means that the American Presidential run would then be a three-horse race, including the Democratic Party Nominee and former Vice President, Joe Biden.
