In its classic forms, according to Ian Tyrrell, American Exceptionalism refers to the special character of the United States as a uniquely free nation based on democratic ideals and personal liberty.
Of course, I grant it to the Americans who so hang on to their respective successes as their “Exceptionalism”. They are undeniably unique. What I sternly dissent is when they misunderstand every other civilization to be a second-rate class of humans. That is a misnomer.
President Museveni: I am honoured to host The Right Honourable Hailemariam Desalegn, the Ethiopian Prime Minister, and his wife Roman, for a three-day state visit. This visit underscores the long-standing relations between our two sister countries. We held bilateral talks and agreed on several issues
On River Nile: We shall discuss further the use of the River Nile waters under the auspices of the Nile Basin Summit.
On South Sudan: We will work together in the stabilisation of of South Sudan, using the IGAD, which is currently chaired by the Hon Prime Minister.
President Museveni: Trade: We shall explore areas in which our countries can trade with each other especially now that there is a route (road) connecting Kenya and Ethiopia at Moyale, which we can take advantage of. We also agreed to strengthen our cooperation on defence matters. I thank the PM for accepting my invitation. He has come on the anniversary of the Battle of Adwa, where King Menelik defeated the Italians on the 2nd of March1896. I congratulate the people of Ethiopia on this occasion
On Somalia: Our countries will continue working together to create an enabling environment for Somalia to build state pillars, establish minimum infrastructure and social services.
President Museveni: I took Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn and his wife Roman on a tour of my farm in Kisozi, Gomba District.
President Museveni: I explained the heritage of the long-horned Ankole cattle to the Prime Minister, and their importance as a key livelihood for the pastoral communities. We also spoke about the commonalities of our communities. I thank the premier and his wife for honouring my invitation
President Yoweri Museveni Monday, January 30, 2017 called on regional leaders engaged in the fight against the Lords Resistance Army (LRA) insurgency in the Central African Republic to commit themselves and allow military commands to jointly work out a plan to flush out remnants of the LRA and put an end to the suffering of the civilian population.
